We are residents of the Big Island and have been eating at Sanseis since it opened. Last night was one of our best experiences eating here. We ate at their half off early bird special ( most items are 1/2 off, others just discounted) The portions were large, the food cooked to perfection and an awesome waitress, Ambre , who has worked here for 16 years. Pics I took are of my favorite roll, the 69 roll. The ahi carpaccio with peanuts, the seafood pasta and our dessert choice, fried tempura ice cream, all so ono! Do be alerted, there is an automatic 20% gratuity added on your bill, based on the regular price, not the 50% discounted price.
I recently dined at Sansei and had an exceptional experience! The highlight of my meal was the perfectly cooked steak, which was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The presentation was elegant, and the ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall dining pleasure. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who made sure every detail was perfect. If you're looking for a fine dining experience with outstanding food, Sansei is the place to go. Highly recommended!
Reservation at 5pm. Superb service by local lady that knows the specials menu by heart. Excellent high maka maka mule. We ordered too much good food ( see pictures ) Great for Waikoloa cuisine
Sansei is in my opinion the best restaurant not only in Waikoloa but on the entire West Coast of the big island. The food is of such high quality, the service is phenomenal, the drinks are delicious. You truly can tell that every dish and every drink is well thought out by the exceptional balance of flavor in every bite. We came here on our honeymoon and ordered the short ribs and also brussel sprouts and a specialty sushi roll. Every single item was five stars. We also got a dessert to go which was just as amazing. I don't think you could go wrong with any item on the menu here. It's a definite must stop on your trip if you're visiting the Waikoloa district. Make a reservation for seating on open table though, because if you're going on the weekends there's pretty much no chance you're going to get seated. This place stays busy, with good reason!
After walking the very long way through a lava flow and passing by some amazing petroglyphs, we found our way to Sansei. It was a pleasure surprise for sure. Our waiter, Kamon (common) was very knowledgeable and had a firm grasp of the gluten free options. We had a fabulous meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection.
Great place to get out of the resorts and have an excellent culinary experience. Had the Hawaiian Ahi. Sauce made me die and go to heaven. Fish was fresh as it is in the rest of the island. My wife had the seafood pasta which was also amazing. A little expensive, but it’s in a resort area, so expected. Great staff as well!
Used to be a great late night Karaoke bar. But since Covid they close at 8:30. Sushi bar is open but you can't sit there. Still great food. I remeber DK from his days working at Takah Sushi in Aspen. His dream was to come back home and open his own sushi bar/restaurant. Now he has 3 steak house. I have been to all of them!
Tried 2x for their early special 4:45 to 5:30pm. Better line up at 4:30pm as they do not open up the back room. If you don't mind sitting squished up at the bar than you can enter early. Otherwise you line up, a lady holding a clipboard adds your name to a list with phone#s. The waiters line up to take folks to assigned tables. It is a flurry of activity and they have adequate numbers of staff that folks are served quickly. If you want a booth, you should request in line. Unsure how the pecking order goes for table assignments but don't think you can change. Nope The food is hot, fresh and tasty. Multiple times the staff sat items on our table that we did not order. Once we shook our head the item was returned to the kitchen or told it belonged at another table. It was an experience and a fun challenge to make the 50% off special. The 20% tip is added on the prediscount amount. Overall Good experience with good food and fast service.
